Helping Your Child Thrive

As a parent, it’s completely natural to worry if your child is struggling with reading. Literacy is at the heart of learning, and when reading feels like a daily battle, it can impact everything from confidence to classroom performance. If your child has dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or another special educational need, traditional teaching methods may not work for them - but that doesn’t mean they can’t become a capable and confident reader with the right approach.

Online Tutoring

Hi, I’m Kate 👋, a qualified teacher specialising in reading support for children who aren’t yet reading at grade level. I provide one-on-one reading tuition using evidence-based, structured literacy techniques. Every session is tailored to your child's individual needs, ensuring they build the skills they need in an approach that works for them.

Beyond tutoring, I also empower you as a parent by sharing practical ways to support your child’s reading journey at home. Whether it’s techniques to make daily reading practice less stressful, how to tackle tricky spelling words, or even helping them feel more confident when reading a menu, I’ll equip you with simple, effective strategies to reinforce their learning. With the right support - both in lessons and at home - your child can make real, lasting progress.

No one-size-fits-all lessons! I work at your child's pace, focusing on the skills they need most and using an approach that works for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online tutoring suitable for young children or those with special educational needs?

Yes! I’ve successfully taught children as young as five in an online setting. For some autistic children, having a parent sit alongside them during sessions can be helpful - both for their engagement and to give you practical strategies to support their learning at home. Each child is different, so we can discuss what works best for your family.

How do the sessions work?

All sessions take place online, so your child will need access to a computer with a camera and a stable WiFi connection. Parents are welcome to sit in on the sessions, but it’s entirely up to you - some children feel more independent and engaged when working alone, while others benefit from a little extra support at the start.

Do I need to commit to a set package or long-term contract?

No, there’s no long-term commitment. Every child’s needs are different, and we can tailor the number of sessions accordingly. After an initial chat, we’ll agree on a plan that suits your child, and we can adjust as we go.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes, I hold a fully clear DBS check, which I’m happy to share with parents upon request.
